Private island paradise at Malamala Beach Club

If you’re staying in Denarau, a meal at Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort’s Island 619 is an absolute must. Offering a ‘Festival of the Senses’, the buffet-style Island 619 sources freshly caught seafood and produce direct from Denarau Farm and offers a variety of local and international inspired cuisine. Think DIY dumpling stations, an extensive salad bar, fresh pasta and woodfire pizza stations and endless seafood – My Fiji Expert Randall recommends giving the octopus kokoda a go! And when it comes to dessert, the friendly staff at Island 619 can whip you up a decadent ice cream sundae, fluffy fairy floss and gooey caramelised banana. Regardless of what you choose, the food at Island 619 is simply divine.
For something a little different, the My Fiji Experts highly recommend Byblos ‘A Taste of Lebanon’, located within Radisson Blu Resort, Denarau Island Fiji. My Fiji Expert Natasha notes that while ‘It’s not something you would expect in Fiji, all the food and drinks were amazing, and the restaurant has a nice view out over the ocean’. Here, you can feast on a delectable array of Lebanese cuisine, all filled with fresh vegetables, juicy meat and fragrant spices. Be sure to save some room for pistachio baklava!
Get lost on Tivua Island 
One of our favourite things about Fiji is the sheer number of islands just waiting to be discovered, with My Fiji Expert Danielle describing our island day trips as ‘the best experience’. Set sail for the heavenly Tivua Island, a tiny jewel in the Mamanuca Islands, just 90 minutes from Port Denarau. Ringed by a golden sand beach and surrounded by 500 acres of vibrant coral gardens, this deserted island is, as My Fiji Expert Martine calls it, ‘picture-perfect paradise’.
With miles of tropical blue water stretching out in every direction, there’s not a single bad view on Tivua Island. Upon arrival, be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and a tropical Fijian buffet lunch, before heading out to explore the island. Swim in the cool ocean water, kayak around the atoll, grab a snorkel and discover the underwater world (if you’re lucky like us, you may just spot a baby reef shark!), or simply claim a sun lounger and do nothing at all.
