Tee-off On Spectacular Fiji Golf Courses
If you love a good game of golf, Fiji is the holiday destination for you. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque golfing spot, as you admire views of turquoise waters, pristine beaches and lush tropical greenery while aiming for that perfect hole-in-one.
There are over a dozen golf courses scattered across Fiji, including three championship courses on the main island, Viti Levu, and several smaller, less challenging 9-hole courses elsewhere. Whether you’re a pro golfer seeking world-class facilities, or you just want to have a little fun while on holiday, Fiji offers plenty of golfing experiences.
After all, golf is the sport of choice for many Fijians, and the success of Fijian world championship golfer, Vijay Singh, reflects this. Singh, along with other professional golfers like Brandt Snedeker and Matt Kuchar, flocks to Natadola Bay each year for the Fiji International tournament. If you’re looking to perfect your swing on your next Fiji holiday, here are some of our favourite golf courses in Fiji:
Denarau Island Golf Courses
Denarau Island may be small, but it sure packs a punch when it comes to golfing experiences. Here, you’ll find Denarau Golf & Racquet Club, which boasts a spectacular, palm-lined 18-hole course. Designed by Eiichi Motobashi, this course features stunning tropical views from all angles and tee-off positions to suit every ability level.
With over 6.5 kilometres of course to enjoy, it is easy to while away an entire day at Denarau Golf & Racquet Club. Confident golfers can simply hire some golf clubs and get swinging, while beginners can take advantage of professional golf lessons.
Denarau Golf & Racquet Club is part of Fiji’s only integrated resort complex, which includes Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Sheraton Denarau Villas and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa. If you choose to stay elsewhere on Denarau Island, don’t fret – you’ll still be within short driving distance of this spectacular golf course.
Coral Coast Golf Courses
The Coral Coast is also a popular holiday destination for golfers, given that it’s home to the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, arguably the most prestigious course in the South Pacific. This 18-hole, par-72 course hosts the annual Fiji International tournament and is a must-visit for passionate golf fans. Just don’t let the magnificent views of coral reefs and rolling surf breaks distract you from your game!
If teeing off at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course is on your bucket list, your best bet is to stay at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. Alternatively, Shangri-La Yanuca Island and Yatule Resort & Spa are both just a short drive away.
If you head a bit further down the Coral Coast towards Pacific Harbour, you’ll find The Pearl Resort, which boasts its very own onsite golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, this 18-hole course is nestled amongst lush tropical rainforests and spiralling canals. We recommend practising your swing on the driving range before coming face to face with this 6-kilometre golf course.
Mamanuca Islands Golf Courses
Even if you aren’t staying on the main island, there is still plenty of opportunity to join a game of golf on your Fiji holiday. Plantation Island Resort, located on Malolo Lailai in the Mamanuca Islands, features a laidback 9-hole golf course. Designed by the 1996 Nadi Open winner, Ananda Madhwan, this course stretches for nearly two kilometres and offers tropical views of flourishing greenery and azure waters. Even better, this golf course has its very own clubhouse, complete with an open-air bar!
